Governor Ifeanyi Okowa has expressed the willingness of Delta State to partner with the Federal Government to develop the solid minerals sector.
Governor Okowa who made this commitment while fielding questions from journalists after meeting with the Minister of State for Mines and Steel Development, Uche Ogar who paid him a courtesy visit at the government house Asaba.
He said there is need for a stronger collaboration between the Federal Government, the states and the private sector to develop the solid minerals industry in the country.
The governor says if the solid mineral sector is developed, states and the Federal Government would have less revenue challenges especially at a period the country is currently dependent on crude oil alone for its development.
Okowa is of the belief that the new Federal Government approach to mining development unlike the former unstructured system would make a great difference.

Earlier in his address, the minister who acknowledged Governor Okowa’s developmental prowess said he was in Delta State to brief the governor of his ministry’s thirst to develop the solid minerals sector across the states.
The minister is also of the belief that his meeting with the governor going by his assurances will bear fruits in no distant time.
