Some aspirants in the All Progressives Congress governorship primary in Akwa Ibom state say the party may not field candidates in the 2023 general elections if the national leadership does not address issues surrounding the primaries.
The aspirants stated this in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom state capital while addressing newsmen.

Just like in other states, the APC primaries for all levels of election in Akwa Ibom state witnessed its fair share of controversy.
According to some of the aspirants in the governorship election led by Senator Ita Enang the exercise was a sham and if not rectified would spell doom for the party’s candidates.
Senator Enang went on to recount what happened.
He said the purported winner of the primary is not even a member of the party, therefore not qualified.
They called on the party at the Centre to rescue the situation.
Senator Enang pointed out that though the law recognized Steven Ntukekpo as the state party chairman, the party lacks any form of leadership.
