About 89 memoranda have been submitted by Nigerians from Kano, Katsina, Jigawa and Kaduna States who converged on Kano for the House of Representatives zonal public hearing on amendment of the 1999 Constitution.
Chairman of the public hearing and House Leader, Alhassan Doguwa assures the various stakeholders of transparency and fair hearing.

Top on the issues on the agenda presented at the public hearing are gender equality, review of the 13 percent derivation downward to 8 percent, establishment of Sharia Courts of Appeal, constitutional role for traditional rulers, creation of more states and establishment of ecclesiastical courts amongst others.
Other issues raised have to do with giving 35 percent elective positions to women, abolishment of dual citizenship and creation of state police.
With many Nigerians following the public hearing with keen interest, it is hoped that it will achieve the desired results.
