The Hydrocarbon Pollution Remediation Project, HYPREP, has embarked on the training of over four hundred ogoni youths in vocational and technical skills in order to enable them acquire the skills to participate in the ongoing Ogoni clean up project.
Hyprep coordinator, Marvin Dekil made this known at the flag-off of the training programme at Eleme in Eleme Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Dekil says the programme is in line with the recommendations of the United Nations Environment programme, UNEP report adding that youth empowerment programme in Ogoni land is one of the core mandate of the president Mohammadu Buhari-led administration.
Stakeholders and the trainees commend the federal government for keeping to its promise of cleaning up the impacted sites in Ogoniland.
The Hyprep coordinator Marvin Dekil urged the Ogoni youths to use the opportunity given them to change their lives for the better and to be the drivers of economic growth in their communities.
