Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki has called for thorough investigation into the jail breaks at the two correctional facilities in Benin City which occurred when the #ENDSARS protests was hijacked by suspected hoodlums in the State Capital.
The Governor made the call when he received the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu who was in Benin City to ascertain the level of damage done to Police Stations destroyed by hoodlums.
IGP Adamu, assured Governor Obaseki ,that the incident will not deter his officers and men from carrying out their duties in safeguarding life and property, stressing that the community policing initiative will soon kick off.
Accompanied by Deputy Governor Philip Shaibu, and the State Commissioner of Police, Johnson Kokumo, the IGP was at the Oba Market Police Station, Dumez Police Outpost, Ugbekun and St. Savour stations to see the wanton destruction perpetrated by the suspected thugs.
The police boss was also at the medium correctional facility on Sapele road.
The IGP and his entourage were also at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital, to visit some police officers who sustained various degree of injury in the fracas.
Mohammed Adamu also interacted with officers and men at the state police headquarters.
