Imo State Government has announced the relaxation of lockdown earlier imposed on markets in the state following the escalation of the Coronavirus pandemic.
Governor Hope Uzodinma told the Imo State Amalgamated Traders Association that approval has been given to them to open all markets for full operations on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
Governor Uzodinma, who hosted the traders at the Government House, Owerri, stated that economic factors informed the decision, explaining that the economy of Imo State cannot be allowed to suffer.
He challenged the market leaders on their pledge to comply with all the Covid-19 protocols.
Governor Uzodinma, however, urged the market men and women to always pay their taxes and rates without being pushed around.
