The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has declared Alex Egbonna of the All Progressives Congress, APC, winner of the House of Representatives rerun election for Yakurr/Abi Federal Constituency in Cross River State.
The State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr. Alalibo Johnson, announced the results on Sunday morning at the collation center in Ugep, Yakurr Local Government Area of the state.
Alalibo announced that the APC candidate polled 29,716 votes to defeat his closest opponent, John-Gaul Lebo, of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, who had 26,039 votes.

In the same vain, the Commission also declared Davies Etta of the PDP as the winner of Abi Constituency seat in the State House of Assembly.
The PDP candidate wins with 13, 349 votes to defeat his closest rival, Eyeng Iwara, of the APC who secured 8,792 votes.

Alalibo, who commended the electortate for peaceful conduct despite initial hiccups, however, announced that the INEC cancelled election in Afafanyi/Igonigoni Ward, consisting of eight polling units with a combined total of 5,616 registered voters, due to violence within the riverine area.
While the margin of victory in the Yakurr/Abi Federal Constituency rerun election is 3,677 votes, that of Abia state Constituency is 4,557 votes.
