The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, (JAMB) has paraded a Policeman over alleged impersonation and other forms of examination malpractice during this year’s Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, (UTME).
JAMB Registrar, Professor Ishaq Oloyede who presented the culprit, Etim Isreal to newsmen in Abuja on Friday said the arrest of the policeman was made possible by directives from the Minister of Education; asking institutions to desist from recapturing potential students during admissions, but to rely on biometrics of candidates as already captured during UTME registration
Etim Isreal who admitted paying one Emmanuel, currently at large, the sum of thirty thousand naira to impersonate him during the 2019 UTME for possible admission into the Akwa Ibom State University to study fisheries, said he regretted his action and pleaded for mercy.
JAMB said it is tracking another 657 persons who are suspected to have committed similar offences.
Meanwhile Etim ISREAL, who is attached to the Akwa Ibom State Police Command has been handed over to the Nigeria Police for further investigation.
