The Acting Executive Secretary of the National universities commission, NUC, Chris Maiyaki has called for an immediate audit of all academic and non-academic staff of Federal universities.
In a Telephone interview with ait.live on Monday, the Acting Executive Secretary says as a fast growing university system, the audit of personnel is necessary to measure up to global best practices.
Maiyaki Said with a population of over two million students, a data of their teachers and other workers is highly necessary for effective planning.

On Friday, September 14, the NUC Acting Executive Secretary signed a letter addressed to all Vice-Chancellors, which noted that the order followed a permission granted by the Minister of Education, Professor Tahir Mamman.
The letter directed all Vice-Chancellors to conduct a manpower audit in their respective institutions, with the reports of the envisaged audit encapsulating their staffing profiles, including nominal rolls with staff file numbers, according to their full time, visiting or adjunct categories.
The NUC asked the.vice chancellors to submit reports in both hard and soft copies through the Executive Secretary, National Universities Commission, for onward transmission to the office of the Minister of Education, on or before October 9, 2023.
The personnel audit by Nigerian universities, May not be unconnected with the ongoing job racketeering probe of the Federal Character commission by the House of Representatives.
