The Chairman of Bungudu Local Government Area of Zamfara State, Nura Umar Abdullahi, has regained his freedom after nearly two months in captivity.
Abdullahi was abducted from his residence in Bungudu on July 25, alongside some of his neighbours.
Two police officers and a local vigilante were killed in the attack, while the Chairman’s brother, who was shot, later died in hospital.

AIT’s correspondent in Zamfara confirmed the Chairman’s release through family sources.
The circumstances of his release are not yet clear, and the police have yet to issue an official statement.
