An erudite Professor of Applied and Social Theatre, who has mentored many young theatre scholars with indelible imprints in the academia and the social struggle Tor Iorapuu has emerged as the new Vice-Chancellor of the Benue State University, Makurdi.
Iorapuu floored 27 other professors who vied for the position after an examination.
Tor Joseph IORAPUU hails from Aliade ,Gwer east local government area in Benue State, Nigeria.
He attended Government College and College of Education, all in Katsina-Ala, Benue State; and the University of Jos, Nigeria, where he read Theatre Arts up to the PhD level.

He has served his alma mater as a member of Faculty. A professor in the Department of Theatre and Film Arts, he was also Dean, Faculty of Arts, University of Jos.
Iorapuu has done a lot of work on Theatre for Development (TfD), from his days at the College of Education, Katsina-Ala, up to his current position at the University of Jos before he was on Sabatical in Benue State University
Due to his commitment to influencing change in the society, beyond curricular requirements, he has provided leadership in the founding and running of Youth, Adolescent, Reflection and Action Centre (YARAC) in Jos.
Following his appointment, it is expected that the current vice Chancellor Professor Msugh Kembe will begin the process of handling over as his tenure ends on the 3rd of November 2020.
