Members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria, also known as Shiites resumed their protests in Abuja, the Nigerian capital demanding the release of the group’s leader, Ibrahim El Zakzakky.
Their procession went through the popular Berger Round About displaying picturesof El-Zakzaky and chanting: “Free our leader”Free Zakzaky; “He needs to go for medical treatment”, “We want justice.”
Speaking to ait.live, some members said the action is also to mark the fifth anniversary of their clash with the military in Zaria, Kaduna State, and to lament the continued detention of their leader, Sheikh Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, and his wife, Zeenatuddin, and other members of the group.

Heavy security presence heralded the procession of the group which encompassed women and children.
