The National Association of Resident Doctors, NARD, on Saturday suspended its 10-day old strike.
NARD President, Uyilawa Okhuaihesuyi confirmed this to ait.live via telephone
Okhuaihesuyi said the Resident Doctors strike was suspended due to their responsibility to Nigerians and the fact that the Federal Government has met some of their demands.
According to him, the strike was suspended after series of long-hour meetings with various stakeholders in the health sector.
The terms of agreement reached include that:
- All house officers yet to be paid, will be paid by Monday.
- All members on GIFMIS would be migrated to IPPIS and paid their owed salaries in earnest.
- Those still being owed 2020 MRTF will be paid from the supplementary 2021 budget.
- 2021 MRTF sorted.
- Increment in hazard allowance being worked on.
Resident Doctors had embarked on a nationwide strike on April 1 to press home their demands over various issues
