Chief Judge of Kaduna State, Justice Ahmed Bello, says the discussion is ongoing with the Attorney-General of the State to reopen courts for the prosecution of issues relating to rape and violence.

Justice Bello, who made this known during the inauguration of the Legal Clinic and Counseling Centre for victims of rape, condemned the rate of sexual assaults in the country.

While commending the Jim’iyyar Matan Arewa and the International Federation of Women Lawyers, FIDA, for their campaigns and opening of a legal clinic for victims of rape, Justice Ahmad Bello is optimistic that the courts in the State will soon reopen for speedy dispensation of justice especially on issues relating to gender-based violence.

President of Jim’iyyar Matan Arewa, Rabi Saulawa, and Kaduna State FIDA Chairperson, Zainab Atoba, said the Centre is to help victims of assaults overcome their predicaments.

According to them, the Legal Clinic and Counselling Centre will be beneficial to victims of rape especially women in northern Nigeria.
