Mixed reactions have greeted the re-run and bye-elections conducted for the Rimi Gado/Tofa and Sanyawa/Kunchi state constituencies in Kano state on Saturday.
While voters commended the Independent Electoral Commission for early deployment of election materials and functional BVAS machines in Rini Gado/Tofa constituency, the same could not be said of Sanyawa/Kunchi constituency where there were reported cases of snatching and withholding of election materials, leading to suspension of the process by INEC.
Voters in their large numbers turned out early in the morning on Saturday, defiling the cooled hazy weather to cast their votes for their preferred candidates for the re-run election in Rimi Gado/Tofa and Sanyawa/Kunchi state constituencies.

Presiding officers in Tofa Local Government area, one of the constituencies where the election is holding say, there is no cause for alarm as all election materials handed over to them functioned optimally.
The Independent electoral commission is getting commendation this time from some voters here for the timely distribution of materials and the orderly nature of the election being conducted in Rimi Gado /Tofa constituency.
While agents of the New Nigeria Peoples Party express optimism that they will be victorious when votes are eventually counted, an APC agent says he was surprised that members of his party did not turn out as expected.
A random visit to about five polling units in Kunchi Sanyawa Local Government of the state shows that election materials were yet to arrive polling units at about 10 to 11am.
However, there were reports of alleged snatching of election materials by thugs, thereby preventing it from reaching polling units in Kunchi Sanyawa local Government area, leading to the suspension of the process in the area by INEC.
