The Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria, MDCN, says standards and medical requirements must be met to set up medical schools that will address the dearth of medical practitioners in the country.
Registrar of the Council, Dr. Tajudeen Sunusi said this during an assessment visit to the Yusuf Maitama Sule University Kano that is set to begin the MBBS academic programme.
Acting Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Aliyu Musa who received members of the Council said staff and students look forward to a successful take off of the programme.

The Kano State Government has earmarked the Muhammad Abdullahi Wase Hospital to serve as teaching hospital for the university as part of the requirements for the accreditation of the medical programme.
The Maitama Sule University was set up to address the need for pursuit of graduate and post graduate degrees in Kano State.
