Governor of Katsina State, Aminu Masari, has directed the lockdown of Safana Local Government Area from Saturday morning beginning from 7 am following the confirmation of 3 Coronavirus infections in the area.

This is contained in a statement signed by the secretary to the state government, Mustapha Inuwa after the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, confirmed the new cases as primary contacts of the patient in Dutsin-Ma Local Government Area.
Masari further added that, the order was in line with the decision already taken by the state government and other stakeholders to shutdown any local government that records a COVID-19 case
He noted that “the conditions for the lockdown are the same with those applied to areas so far on locked down, urging the people to abide by this directive to stay at home, and save lives.
This brings to 7 the number of local government areas under lock down so far out of the 34 local councils in the state.
