The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the just concluded Kogi state governorship election, Musa Wada, has filed a suit challenging the election that brought Governor Yahaya Bello back into power.
In the suit Wada and his party want the Kogi Governorship election tribunal to declare Yahaya Bello’s election void and declare him winner of the election.
In the three-volume petition spread over 500 pages, Wada also alleges that the election was marred with electoral malpractices.
Wada who said he was coming from the burial of the late Kogi PDP women leader, Salome Abuh, stated that he came personally to file the petition because of the importance it commands.
Wada was accompanied to the tribunal by party members, supporters and his counsel, Jibril Okutekpa (SAN).
The PDP candidate is challenging the victory of Bello who was declared winner of the election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the November 16 Governorship election in the state in which Bello was said to have scored a total of four hundred and six thousand, two hundred and twenty two votes to defeat Wada with one hundred and eighty nine thousand, seven hundred and four votes.
