Sporadic shootings in Ayingba disrupted voting process across major polling units in Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi state where hundreds of eligible voters were deprived from voting.
The violence also prevented journalists from getting to the polling unit of the PDP governorship candidate, Musa Wada, as thugs barricaded the only access road to his country home in Odu
There was tension in the morning at the unity round about in Ayingba, armed thugs attacked voters and journalists. The thugs barricaded the only access road to the polling unit of the PDP governorship candidate and when journalist attempted to maneuver their blockade they were attacked
Voters conducted themselves peacefully at the polling units until thugs said to be from APC started shooting in the air and scaring voters away including the governorship candidate of the UDP, Abdulrazak Emeje.
The ballot box was however returned by the thugs shortly after the APC national women leader came out to vote where she blamed the opposition PDP for being responsible for the disruption.
Observers say the election in Dekina Local Government Area fell short of credibility as thugs had a filled day intimidating voters and snatching ballot boxes without any form of resistance from security agencies.
