Governor-elect, Yahaya Bello, and his Deputy, Edward Onoja, have been sworn in as the 5th executive Governor of Kogi State.
He was sworn in by the State Chief Judge, Justice Nasiru Ajana, at the Government House, Lokoja.
Governor Bello, in his speech, promised to deliver beyond the people’s expectations.
The Governor defeated his major challengers, Musa Wada of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and Natasha Akpoti of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, with a wide margin of over 2, 000 votes.

Amongst the dignitaries present at the inauguration were the representatives of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the Minister of Youth and Sports, Sunday Dare. Others are traditional rulers, the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Adams Oshiomole, and other party stalwarts, both National and State Assembly members, Governors of Yobe, Ekiti, Kwara, Ondo, and Borno.
Others are Governors of Plateau, Kebbi, and Jigawa States.
