Kogi Lawmaker Jimoh Omiata Dies In Lagos

The Member representing Yagba in Kogi State House of Assembly, Hon. Jimoh Omiata is dead.

Omiata who hailed from Igbagun community in Yagba Local Government of the state was a two-term member of the state House of Assembly, and the first person to ever win an election twice to the House from the council area.

A nephew who confirmed his death said the state Lawmaker died in Lagos while still recuperating from an undisclosed illness he has been battling for a while.

Meanwhile, Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello has expressed shock over the passing of the member representing Yagba East State Constituency in the State House of Assembly, Jimoh Omiata while describing his passing as a colossal loss to the state and the nation’s legislative organ.

The governor’s condolence message was contained in a press statement issued and made available to journalists in Lokoja on Monday by his Chief Press Secretary, Onogwu Muhammed.

Yahaya Bello said Omiata was a true patriot who dedicated his life to public service and was a strong voice for his people.

Jimoh Omiata died at the age of 57 after a brief illness in a hospital in Lagos.
