The Kogi state police commissioner, CP Ede Ayuba Ekpeji has deployed patrol teams along the dangerous Lokoja-Kabba. Road to curtail further attacks on motorists.
In a press statement released to journalists in Lokoja, the force public relations officer, DSP William Ovye Aya said, this action follows an attack by hoodlums on Sani Samaila, a Nissan Sunny taxi driver and his six passengers travelling from Lokoja to Kabba area at the Oshokoshoko-Agbede boundary area.
Police said the driver’s, effort to escape forced the hoodlums to shoot at his vehicle causing one of the passengers pastor Sunday Fagbejo to sustain bullet wound on his stomach.
Police said its squadron kabba patrol team immediately mobilised to the scene and rushed the victim to the specialist hospital, Lokoja for treatment.
The police commissioner said, the presence of the squadron at the scene made the hoodlums to flee.
He however called on the good people of the state to collaborate with the police and other security agencies by sharing information on suspicious movement within their neighborhood.
