The Kogi State government is to apply for a $100 million loan for the development of the Alape staple crop zone in Kogi west Senatorial district of the state.
The approval was given at the maiden state executive council meeting of the Governor Yahaya Bello’s second term in office where the state government also declared its intention to create a department to coordinate World Bank activities in the state.
The Commissioner for finance, budget and planning, Asiwaju Idris Asiru highlighted the benefits of the $100 million loan for the development of the Alape crop processing zone.
In another development, the Commissioner said Governor Bello directed his Commissioners to submit their work plans for the first quarter of the year with strategies to raise internally generated revenue
Commissioner for information and communications, Kinsley Fanwo said Governor Bello during the meeting restated his commitment to the development, unity and security of the state.
He said the state government also plans to institute a large scale empowerment programme that will ensure meaningful engagement of youths and women across the state.
