The Nigerian Medical association, NMA, has attributed the high cost of drugs in the country to dependence on imported drugs.
speaking at the 2020 press week programme of the correspondents chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, in Ilorin, the Kwara state capital, the state Deputy Chairman, NMA, Dr. Aderibigbe Ayodele noted that with an enabling environment pharmaceutical companies can produce drugs at affordable in the country.
Dr. Ayodele added that government must also strengthen relevant regulatory bodies to ensure that drugs manufactured in Nigeria contain advertised ingredients.

Similarly, the medical expert advised practicing journalists in the country to pay adequate attention to their health regardless of their tight schedule, saying that early detection of sickness saves lives
The Kwara State NMA boss, also charged journalists to carefully check all medical posts online from medical experts before disseminating such as fake medical news now abound in circulation.
