The Lagos State Government has fixed september 21 for resumption of full academic activities in primary and secondary schools.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu who made the announcement on Saturday also directed that tertiary institutions owned by the Lagos State Government should re-open on September 14.
Both public and private schools have been shut for almost 5 months as a precautionary measure due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The governor however noted that the dates are subject to review. In his words, “this position is not cast in stone and subject to a review of our ongoing monitoring and procedures from the ministry of health.
“Remember that we said that the virus will peak and we will flatten the curve in the month of August. From what we have seen, it appears we have flattened the curve. In the last two weeks, we have continued to see a drop in the positivity that we have encountered in the state.”
Schools across the country were partially opened on august 4 as directed by the federal government to enable candidates to sit for the west african senior school examinations.

Lagos State has been the epicentre of the COVID-19 in Nigeria with the highest number of confirmed cases which currently stands at 18,083 as at friday, august 28.
