The Ebonyi State Independent Electoral Commission, EBSIEC, Saturday, conducted elections into the 13 Local Government Councils of the State after the exercise suffered two postponements this year.
The ait.live crew that monitored the election in some local government areas observed that the exercise though characterised by relative low turn out of voters, was devoid of violence.
As early as 7.30 am, electoral officers had gathered at various local government distribution centres, but the deployment of sensitive voting materials did not begin till about 9.00 am.
Accreditation and voting commenced early at polling stations in places visited in Ohaozara and Ivo LGAs. Voting however did not start at the polling station located in Onuahia Nkwo, Okposi, till about 10am due to late arrival of materials.
As at 2.00 pm, voting had already been concluded at Governor Dave Umahi’s Ward 1, Unit 3, in Umunaga, Ohaozara Local Government Area. The Governor who also cast his ballot told journalists that he was impressed with the conduct of the polls.
