There are fears that many passengers may have been abducted as terrorists operating in the forest area of Batsari Local Government Area of Katsina State, North-West Nigeria launched an attack on one of the 36-seater Coaster Buses of the State Transport Authority, KTSTA, injuring one person.
General Manager of the transport company, Haruna Musa, who confirmed the incident, said he cannot say whether people were abducted or not, as the report received, indicated that many of the passengers fled into the bush for safety.

According to him, the incident occurred at about 2pm on Thursday along the Batsari Road, where the terrorists had come out and opened fire, shooting sporadically at the bus.
Musa also confirmed that some of the passengers were found, while others are still missing. He added that, during the attack, one person sustained injury, due to a stray bullet, and has been rushed to the hospital.
The attack is coming barely 48 hours before the conduct of the March 18 Governorship and House of Assembly polls, but the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 14 on Election Duty, AIG Ahmed Abdulrahman, had assured that the attack will not disrupt the conduct of the elections.
