The Minister of Environment Mohammad Abubakar, says the six water projects in Ogoniland, will create jobs for the unemployed youths of the region.
Abubakar, made this known during the flag off ceremony on Monday in Bori khana local government area of Rivers State.
Since the Ogoni cleanup was flagged off in 2016, there have been agitations for the provision of portable water as one of the emergency measures recommended by the United Nations Environmental Program UNEP reports on the 4th of August 2011.

The Minister also reinterated the federal government’s commitment to the total clean up of the ogoni land.
The head operations hyprep,Prof Phillip shekwolo and a hyprep board member Celestine Akpobari, urged the contractors handling the water project to bring their expertise to bear on the sustainability of water when completed
The people of region said they will give their total support in ensuring that the water projects were actualized.
High point of the event was the handing over of contract agreement to the contractors.
