Fresh facts have emerged as to how the 33-year old operative of the Department of State Services, DSS, Sadiq Abdullahi who was the breadwinner of his family was killed.
A family member of the deceased who pleaded anonymity while speaking exclusively to AIT said unknown to them the abductors had killed the officer even before receiving the ransom from them.
According to him, “The kidnappers used my brother’s phone to call me on Sunday morning and demanded for N13 million ransom. We negotiated to N5 million. They then instructed me to bring the money which must be in cash to them at Charanchi within 48 hours.
He continued, “They also said I must come alone with a car to carry him as they had wounded him on the leg. At about 4pm on Sunday, after running around and getting the money from friends and business partners, I went to Charanchi and I contacted them. They said I should await further instructions after tricking me to 3 different locations, finally at about at about 6pm on Sunday, they now directed me to Kurfi where, 3 of them in their 30s and 40s who were fully armed approached me after telling me to trafficate my car for confirmation before collecting the ransom”.

“Later, they said I should go back to Charanchi and when I asked them about my brother, one of them told me that I ask too much while another, sympathised with me and said my brother is a good person. They then, directed me to another place assuring me that I will find him there. They then left me, when i got to the location they told me, I couldn’t find my brother. Then, I decided to call their phone but it was switched off, at that point I went and reported the incident at the Batagarawa police station”.
According to him, it was a search party organised by the police that found Sadiq’s corpse on Monday morning at Kurfi after the kidnappers had refused to honour their pledge on Sunday evening that they will free him after the delivery of the ransom to them.
“On Monday morning, the police and I went back to Kurfi where search parties were organised to different locations in the bush where we even slept overnight while the search lasted. One of the members of the search party later called that he has seen a corpse with only boxers on and, I was asked to come and identify the corpse which turned out to be that of my brother. And we brought the corpse home for burial”.
The source who was sobber added that, “I will appeal to the government and the security agents to help us fish out the killers of my brother. My brother successfully carried out at least 5 operations for the DSS and he was a gallant and very intelligent officer. He was also the breadwinner for the family of 6 which the eldest of us is a woman.”
He added that late Sadiq who was planning to pack into his newly built house before the sad incident, left behind a wife and 2 children
As at the time of filing this report, mourners and sympathisers have been thronging his family house at Garama area, within Katsina metropolis to console his father and the rest of the family.
