Just as Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari was billed to arrive in Maiduguri, Borno State to commence one-day commissioning of projects, at least five civilians, including a 16-year-old girl, have been reported killed, as multiple bombs landed in Gomari Ayafe and Bulumkutu General Areas, not too far from the Maiduguri International Airport.
The incident occurred ahead of the arrival of the President.
The bombs were believed to have been fired from outside Maiduguri just before 11 am.
Some citizens suspect Boko Haram/ISWAP of being responsible.
The movement of people had been restricted ahead of the Presidential visit.

The commissioning of the projects by President Buhari, however, has gone ahead as scheduled.
They included the newly built Maiduguri Fly Over at the Customs Round About and the 10 kilometres Maiduguri – Muna dual Carriage Way, among others.
There was no official confirmation of the incident at the time of this report.
