Cross River State Governor, Professor Ben Ayade has inaugurated the Taskforce of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons, NAPTIP to help in reducing the scourge in the State.
Ayade who was represented by his deputy, Professor Ivara Esu during the inauguration in Calabar said human trafficking is largely caused by unemployment which is the reason why his administration is tackling the problem head-on.
He charged members of the Taskforce to put in their best, adding that Government will provide most of their needs to curb human trafficking, especially along the border routes of Cross River State.
In her remark, NAPTIP Director-General, Julie Okah-Donli said the problem of human trafficking and irregular migration has become a great national concern especially with a large number of Nigerians trapped in sexual and labour exploitation in various countries.

The Taskforce which has the State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice as Chairman has men of various security agencies and other relevant organisations as members.
