Electricity consumers in the Country will get reprieve from the plan to hike tarrifs as the Nigerian Lawmakers are standing against this move to make Nigerians pay more for power.
As promised Senate in the National Assembly recently, both Senate President Ahmed Lawan and the Speaker of the House of Representatives Femi Gbajabiamila On Tuesday met with President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo at Aso rock to discuss the planned increase in the Tarrif.
The two senior legislators told state house correspondents after the meeting that the timing of the planned hike is wrong because citizens are struggling to cope with the impact of COVID-19.
They explained that the national assembly has also engaged the electricity distribution companies and the Nigerian electricity regulatory commission on the matter.
