NIgeria’s National Economic Council says there are no plans to lockdown the nation’s economy for a second time, but however urged the people to follow the Covid 19 safety protocols.
Arising from its first monthly meeting on Thursday, chaired by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo at the Presidential Villa Abuja, the council called on security agencies to support state governments to ensure that people comply with the non pharmaceutical guidelines.

Briefing state house correspondents at the end of the meeting , Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa said any form of lockdown at this time will cripple the economy.
On the issue of the Covid 19 Vaccine , Governor Okowa explained that health workers and the elderly persons will be given priority when the jabs begin..
The Chairman of the Nigerian Governors forum and Governor of Ekiti state Kayode Fayemi attended the meeting physically, while other governors joined the meeting virtually from their various states.
