The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, says it remains committed to working with state governments to kick all epidemics out of the country.
Dr. Oyeladun Okunromade, the NCDC’s Head of International Health Regulation, gave the commitment at the opening of a four-day state Health Security Assessment, in Kano.

Okunromade said In 2019, 760 Local Government Areas across the 36 States and the Federal Capital Territory, reported 45,614 cases of epidemic-prone diseases.
Kano State Epidemiologist and Deputy Director Public Health, Dr. Bashir Muhammed said Kano is the first state to demonstrate the National Action Plan on Health Security in 2020.
The programme is a joint evaluation being piloted in Kebbi, Kano, and Enugu States.
