The Nigerian Air Force has challenged young Nigerians to acquire relevant skills, embrace discipline and avoid social vices as they prepare for their future roles in national development.
The message was delivered at an Independence Day programme for children at the Sam Ethnan Air Force Base in Ikeja, Lagos.
For the Nigerian Air Force, Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary is also an opportunity to turn attention to the generation that will shape the country’s future.
The programme, themed Celebrating Nigeria at 66: Empowering Children, Building the Future, brought together children at the Sam Ethnan Air Force Base.

Air Officer Commanding, Logistics Command, Air Vice Marshal Abdul Abubakar Suleh, represented by the Chief of Staff, Logistics Command, Air Vice Marshal B.E.T. Akpabio, emphasised discipline, skills acquisition and patriotism.
He encouraged the children to develop skills that will prepare them for future opportunities and responsibilities.
Commander, 651 Base Services, Air Commodore Muhammad Imam, and the Commander, 643 Equipment Supply Depot, also advised the children to avoid social vices and conduct themselves as responsible citizens.
The Independence Day programme featured a tug of war competition, march past, choreographic displays and presentation of gifts to participants.
