Nigeria has a total of 74, 850 health workforce in ten states of the federation.
This was revealed at the launch of the Nigeria Health Workforce Country Profile 2018 and handing over of the National Health Workforce Registry.
The production of the profile and registry was a collaboration between the World Health Organisation, WHO, the Government of Canada and the Federal Ministry of Health.

The registry covers 10 states of the federation including Borno, Edo, Niger, Adamawa and Bauchi. Others are Cross River, Sokoto, Abia, Osun and Anambra States.
The Minister of Health, Osagie Ehanire says the registry will facilitate planning and in turn deliver efficient and high quality health service to Nigerians.
The WHO Country Representative says the registry demonstrates Nigeria’s progress in achieving universal health coverage. He however identified gaps that needs to be addressed
The National Health Workforce Registry shows a total of 74,850 workforce in the 10 states.
