Nigeria likely to cross 8,000 Covid-19 cases in next 24 hours

Nigeria has recorded 313 new Covid-19 infections bringing total number of confirmed cases to 7,839.

This is 161 cases short of 8,000 and the lowest number of infections the country has recorded in the the last 2 weeks being 146 infections on May 12.

The new Covid-19 cases are 148 in Lagos, 36 in FCT, 27 in Rivers, 19 in Edo, 13 in Kano, 12 in Ogun and 11 in Ebonyi States.

There are also 8 new cases each in Nasarawa and Delta, 7 in Oyo, 6 in Plateau, 5 in Kaduna, 4 in Kwara, 3 each in Akwa Ibom and Bayelsa, 2 in Niger and 1 in Anambra States.

The Federal Capital Territory now has over 500 confirmed cases following 36 new infections being its highest in over 3 weeks

Meanwhile, Rivers State records one of its highest daily new infections of 27 that pushed its total confirmed cases to over 100

At least 89 Covid-19 patients were discharged in the last 24 hours bringing the total to 2,263 with 5 new deaths recorded.
