Nigeria summons Ghanaian Chargè d’ Affaires over Accra attack

Nigeria’s Minister Of Foreign Affairs has summoned the Chargè d’ Affaires of the Ghanaian High Commission in Abuja, Iva Denoo to demand urgent explanation on the recent attacks on the residential building in Nigeria’s diplomatic premises in Accra.

Nigeria is also demanding reinforcement of security around the country’s diplomatic premises and staff. The Minister who made this known on his Twitter handle

Meanwhile, the Minister at the national briefing of the Presidential Task Force on Covid-19 said the Ghanaian President, Nana Akufo-Addo, has ordered the immediate arrest and prosecution of the persons behind the attack at the Nigerian High Commission Staff Quarters. I

Onyeama, who described the attack on the Nigerian High Commission property as a violation of the Vienna Convention, said that the directive by President Akufo- Addo was communicated to the Federal Government by Ghana’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Shirley Ayorkor Botchway after Nigeria lodged a protest over the attack on its facilities.

He said although the Ghanaian president has ordered the arrest of the culprits, Nigeria was awaiting definitive action from the country before taking further action.
