The Defence Headquarters has dismissed reports on social media, insinuating that rehabilitated repentant Boko Haram members are being absorbed into the Nigerian military.
A statement by the Acting Director Defence Information, Brigade General Onyema Nwachukwu says the reports are false and misleading.
The statement says the de-radicalization, rehabilitation and reintegration programme is a Federal Government initiative for low risk and repentant Boko Haram Members that surrendered to federal troops.
The statement stresses that the de-radicalization program under the Operation Safe Corridor is deflating the Terrorists Force and that there is no plan to recruit the former Boko Haram members into the Military
It also notes that about 500 terrorists have so far been convicted.
