Nigeria’s House of Representatives has asked its committee on foreign affairs to investigate the alleged comment made by a member of the British House of Commons, capable of inciting violence against the former Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon, and causing crisis in Nigeria.
The lawmakers noted that the Member of the House of Commons has taken advantage of the parliamentary privilege to disparage the former Head Of State of Nigeria, and made statements, which in other circumstances, may be libellous and subject to sanction.

The British lawmaker during a debate on the response of the Federal Government to the EndSARS protest had accused the Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon of taking half of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, with him when on exile to the United Kingdom, after he was toppled in a military coup.
