Officials of Rivers Angels Football Club of Port Harcourt have commended the Confederation of African Football, CAF for approving the CAF Women champions League.
Speaking to ait.live in Port Harcourt ,the Rivers State capital, the officials alongside administrators and sports journalists said the championship will further develop women football technically and economically.
Until the recent CAF announcement, the best women footballers have had on the continent was the African Women championship, Olympic and world cup qualifiers.
Officials of Nigeria’s foremost female club in the country, Rivers Angels Football Club said the CAF Women Champions League will further add value to women’s football.
Logistics and funding might be a challenge for participating teams, however, Rivers State Sports Commissioner, Boma Iyaye assured that the Government will support the team adequately.
Coach Edwin also noted that the team would be fortified to withstand the rigours of continental football.
Officials of Rivers Angels are optimistic that the same way the Super Falcons have dominated the continent is how their side will dominate club football.
