The Abia State chapter of Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, says it will picket the office of the State Commissioner for Finance if the government fails to refund the money deducted from civil servants.
Briefing the press in Umuahia, the state Chairman, Uchenna Obigwe, said NLC is against the illegal deductions from certain categories of pensions by the state government.
He wondered why the state government would make such deductions at a time palliatives are expected to be provided for the pensioners to cushion the effect of covid 19.
Comrade Obigwe also observed that so many civil servants are yet to receive the 2019 minimum wage.

The union also inaugurated a 17 man labour civil society committee members with a charge to ensure that the spread of Covid-19 is brought to its barest minimum disease in Abia State.
