Group Managing Director of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC Mele Kyari says it’s unfortunate that people see the country’s oil company as a representation of corruption but that the corporation is working round the clock to change the negative perception.
Kyari who made the statement at a media parley in Abuja however admitted that the Corporation did not do well in managing the country’s natural resources. He pointed out that the country moved away from waste and 3 million barrels per day is within sight.
Kyari also said the company maintained its account for 7 months without failing and that the allegation of dipping hands into the Nigeria LNG Limited, NLNG is not only untrue but impossible due to the TSA policy.
The NNPC boss added that by December Nigeria’s gas pipeline construction would have crossed the Niger Delta.
In the course of his speech Kyari accused past leaders of the country of always interfering in the Corporation’s affairs.
He reiterates that Nigeria is a gas producing country and the Siemens deal is a practical solution to power supply as well as the fact that Nigeria cannot afford subsidy.
