One of the Internally Displaced Persons, (IDPs), taking refuge at the home for the needy in Edo State, as a result of the Boko Haram insurgency in northern Nigeria, Amos Ishaku, has bagged First-class Honours in Chemical Engineering from the Edo State University, Uzairue, with a CGPA of 4.80.
Some other escapees from Boko Haram attacks residing in the IDP camp in the state also came out in second place in Law and other fields of study.
Amos Ishaku, who bagged a First-class degree in chemical engineering from the Edo State University, Uzairue, narrated how he and many others escaped from the Boko Haram insurgency in Borno State in northern Nigeria and were directed to the Christian International Centre, a home for the needy in Edo State.
Amos said he thought all hopes were lost, but was encouraged by the Camp Coordinator, Pastor Solomon Folorunsho, to keep pushing for a better future.
The first-class chemical engineering graduate with a Cumulative Gross Point Average, CGPA of 4.80, said he failed his first two attempts in the senior secondary school examination but was encouraged by the pastor to push on.
He finally scaled through the huddles and gained admission to study chemical engineering at the Edo State University in Uzairue.

He said that despite the financial challenges, he had to study hard to reward the efforts of the camp coordinator, who had been his pillar.
Nathan Ibrahim and Saminu Kili, both graduated with Second-class Upper degrees in Law from the same university as Amos.
They were full of praise for the camp coordinator, who gave them the encouragement and support to excel, amid the few resources available at the camp.
Pastor Solomon Folorunsho appealed to well-meaning Nigerians to support the camp, as feeding Is a major challenge.
The IDP camp at Ughogua, Edo State, has over 2000 displaced persons taking refuge, and many of them are willing to go to school, just like Amos and others.
The camp has produced over 70 graduates.
