The Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ Daar Hq chapel has expressed shock over the ghastly motor accident involving its news crew while on official assignment to cover Saturday’s Edo State Governorship Election.
In a statement released by the NUJ Daar HQ Chapel Secretariat, the Union said it was however relieved to find out that all the six passengers in the vehicle survived the accident.
The accident happened along okpella-Auchi road on Thursday September 17, as the driver lost control of the vehicle.
The bus was said to have somersaulted several times before crashing into the nearby bush.
The NUJ therefore call on the management of Daar Communications to ensure that all the injured staff get adequate treatment and replace those who sustained severe injuries and can no longer perform optimally during the exercise.
The Chapel noted that all Daar Communications Staff involved in the build-up to the Saturday, September 19, Edo governorship election, have performed exceptionally well and given their best, to ensure the electorate have adequate information about the voting process and electoral guidelines by INEC.
While calling on all staff members deployed for the coverage of the election to give their very best and make the organisation proud, it advises them to stay safe.
The Union is appealing to management to provide the required equipment and support needed to deliver excellently in the coverage of the election.
