No fewer than 13 youth corps members on Thursday had their service year extended in Nasarawa State, North-Central Nigeria for absconding from their primary assignments.
NYSC State Coordinator, Abdullahi Jikamshi, made this known during the passing out ceremony of the 2021 Batch-B-Stream-1 corps members in Lafia, the state capital.

Jikamshi said the affected corps members failed to internalise the spirit and discipline of the scheme, by absconding from their primary assignments.
The Coordinator said that 1,859 corps members who successfully completed their service year, would be provided with their certificates of national service and said those who went extra-mile and singled themselves out through individual contributions to their host communities have been recommended for various awards.
Jikamshi announced that some corps members of the outgoing batch died during their service year.
He expressed gratitude to the State Government, the Traditional Council of Chiefs and the people of the state for their continuous support that has ensured the safety and success of corps members in all activities.
He said that corps members within the period offered free medical services in various communities to over 6, 000 people.
