Former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo has asked the Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki to see his second term victory as another opportunity to work at deepening democracy and good governance in the State.
Obasanjo in a congratulatory message signed by his media aide Kehinde Akinyemi on Monday says Obasaki’s electoral triumph was a testimony to the people’s recognition of his leadership
The statement reads “I salute you and all those who worked for your re-election, no doubt, the outcome of the elections that have taken place so far broadly reflects the choice of the Nigerians who have, by their conduct, visibly demonstrated that they value our present democracy and will do their utmost to make it work”.
The former president urged the Edo Governor “to reciprocate their trust by doing everything to strengthen their faith in democracy and in its ability to bring about improved material conditions and better service delivery.
He also called for magnanimity on the part of Obaseki urging him to extend a hand of fellowship to the other candidates who failed in their bid for the elected office.
