Farmers in Ondo State are lamenting the impact of the Covid-19 Pandemic on food production and farm businesses.

Amidst the Covid-19 Pandemic, the farmers are worried about shortage of farm inputs, which they claim are now expensive. They therefore call for urgent intervention by the Government to prevent food scarcity in coming days

According to reports from the World Economic Forum, about 23 million people are expected to be pushed into extreme poverty in sub-Saharan Africa this year alone, due to the outbreak of COVID-19.

In the midst of this, farmers in Ondo State are lamenting over inability to get seeds, fertilizer and other inputs for the planting season.

They expressed fear that the country is at risk of facing food scarcity, if the situation is not addressed

The farmers said high cost of farm inputs, has led to many of them abandoning farming.

Apart from challenges posed by shortage of farm inputs, these farmers have also gone spiritual, praying for enough rainfall, to prevent looming food scarcity.
