Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics, ASUP. has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to intervene in the leadership tussle at the Federal Polytechnic Bida in Niger State.
ASUP noted with concern that the continuation of the Rector, Abubakar Dzukogi in office is illegal having attained the retirement age of 65, as stipulated in the civil service rules.
The Union in a statement by its Zone A Coordinator, Kasim Ibrahim, urges Dzukogi to toe the path of honour and vacate the office he is currently occupying, for peace to continue to prevail.
The statement also accused the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, of keeping quiet on the issue.
The Zone A Coordinator also observed that Abubakar Dzukogi had retired from the services of the Polytechnic since June last year.
He stressed that his retirement has disqualified him from occupying the position of Rector of the institution.
