Pastor Osagie Ize- Iyamu has emerged as a consensus candidate from the Oshiomhole’s faction that will battle for the All Progressives Party’s ticket with the incumbent Governor Godwin Obaseki in the main primaries slated for June 22.
The former governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the 2016 election in Edo State, who defected to the APC in 2019, has been facing stiff opposition since his return.
He has, however, been receiving the needed support from the National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, for the converted position
The emergence of Pastor Ize- Iyamu as the consensus candidate for a fraction of the party loyal to the National Chairman will see Governor Obaseki and Ize- Iyamu slugs it out in the main primaries.
Ize- iyamu was picked ahead of four other top aspirants after a failed mock primaries over a fortnight ago to produce the consensus candidate.
The four other governorship aspirant on the National Chairman’s camp is the former Deputy Governor of Edo State Pius Odubu, engineer Chris Ogiemwonyi, Major General Charles Airhaivbere retired, and Saturday Uwuilekhue.
